Washington Elevation Overview
Washington’s terrain is divided by the Cascade Range. The wet western side includes the Olympic Peninsula rainforests and Puget Sound lowlands. The east is the dry Columbia Plateau. Mount Rainier, an active stratovolcano at 14,411 ft, is the most glaciated peak in the lower 48. The Columbia River Gorge forms the southern border with Oregon.
