Missouri Elevation Overview
Missouri’s terrain is defined by the Ozark Plateau, which covers the southern half with forested hills, clear rivers, and caves. Taum Sauk Mountain at 1,772 ft in the St. Francois Mountains is the high point. The Missouri River cuts east across the state, and the Mississippi forms the eastern border. The Bootheel is flat Mississippi Embayment lowlands.
