Job Description
The Staff Geologist will work under the direct supervision of geologic projects of average to high difficulty, with work reviewed in detail by senior geologists. Work will focus on engineering geology, geologic hazard assessment, and site characterization for various infrastructure projects. Tasks may include borehole and test pit logging, fault studies, seismic hazard assessments, field mapping, geologic interpretation of geotechnical and geospatial data, and geologic hazard assessments including seismic source modeling. Introduction to elements of marketing, project scoping, and project management.
Salary Range – $70,000 – 110,000 per year
Job Responsibilities
Assist in the execution of projects and other operational tasks.
Be available for field assignments that require domestic or international travel
Coordinate field activities including permitting, scheduling, logistics, drilling, surveying, logging and sampling, mapping, etc.
Assist with report and proposal writing and verbal communications.
Collect, compile, and analyze field and laboratory data.
Participate in the design, implementation, and supervision of field exploration programs, and detailed site characterization studies.
Participate in the development of the scope, estimating costs, and procuring subcontractors.
Adhere to project schedules and deadlines.
Perform data entry and analyses and develop reasonable conclusions and recommendations.
Prepare technical reports in a timely, organized, and accurate manner.
Help develop project opportunities.
Job Requirements
Authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions
Masters degree in geology or earth sciences.
0-3 years of experience in engineering geology or geology
Experience in site characterization; field exploration programs including drilling, trenching, sampling, geophysical survey, and analysis of test data is preferred
Strong technical writing and communication skills.
Familiarity with GIS (fluency in ArcGIS software preferred).
Individuals must possess an understanding and knowledge of geology, engineering geology, and related disciplines, and must be able to research and assess the geology of project sites.
Currently hold or able to obtain a US Passport for possible international travel
Valid drivers license with acceptable motor vehicle record
Working toward obtaining a professional license.
Must strictly adhere to Fugros safe driving policy, standards, and requirements.
