WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Senior Business Analyst is a key member of the Conservation Business team within the Conservation & Geospatial Systems group in Information Technology (IT). The Business Analyst reports to the Associate Director of Business Analysis, who leads the Conservation Business team, and works closely with various Conservation business units across the organization. This role serves as a primary liaison between the conservation business partners and IT professionals and therefore must understand conservation technology solutions while promoting consistent conservation business processes and user adoption. The Senior Business Analyst brings value to business clients by analyzing and modeling business processes, eliciting and documenting business requirements and technical specifications, prioritizing features and managing technical product roadmaps, designing and leading user acceptance testing, and, in partnership with IT staff, delivering and supporting high-quality, user-friendly technology solutions and services that advance conservation strategies and goals.
The Senior Business Analyst also performs business and technology feasibility assessments and scopes new project requests. They collaborate laterally with IT staff to identify and leverage solutions across systems and business units. They may lead mid-level projects and be responsible for project or task management and issues related to implementing and establishing technical standards and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITES & SCOPE

Understand the strategies, goals, and work of key project leads and stakeholders across conservation science and related business units.
Identify business and technology priorities and lead the analysis and documentation of business requirements. Collaborate with business and IT leads to establish product roadmaps.
Translate business requirements into functional specifications and make user experience design recommendations.
Collaborate with the IT delivery team to determine technical specifications and deliver technology and data solutions that align with business needs.
Define acceptance criteria, develop test scenarios, and lead user acceptance testing.
Provide technical training, guidance, and resource support for end users and IT staff and promote ongoing user adoption.
Assist with application support for TNCs internal conservation and related systems.
Contribute to the Conservation & Geospatial Systems groups project portfolio execution and capability roadmap realization by assessing new opportunities and measuring the quality and value of IT investments to ensure customer satisfaction.
Utilize data analysis to assess changing business needs and stay informed about industry trends. Evaluate alternatives and make recommendations for appropriate technology solutions.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Bachelors degree in information technology or related field and/or the combined equivalent of education and experience.
Five years of experience as a business analyst in information technology or a related field.
Experience analyzing and prioritizing business needs, modeling business processes, and recommending and implementing technology solutions.
Experience defining and documenting complex business requirements and technical specifications.
Excellent collaboration and facilitation skills and proven ability to bring together stakeholders with varying levels of technical knowledge and develop strong strategic partnerships.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience translating business strategies and goals into adaptable technology roadmaps and solutions that deliver continuous value.
Excellent written, visual, and oral communication skills and ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and succinctly to key business partners, including senior executives.
Experience with Agile methodologies and product ownership (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner).
Experience managing work using Atlassian suite or similar task and documentation management tools.
Experience analyzing highly complex system-wide technical specifications and impacts to enterprise data and architecture.
Experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria and delivering software solutions in partnership with a Scrum team.
Experience designing test plans and leading user acceptance testing.
Familiarity with user experience design elements.
Experience producing user and technical documentation and supporting user adoption and training.
Knowledge of Continuous Delivery and DevSecOps practices and associated toolsets.
Experience with data analytics and dashboards (e.g., PowerBI).
Working knowledge of geospatial systems (e.g., Esri ArcGIS) and cloud-based platforms (e.g., AWS and Azure).
Experience working with program design, delivery and/or field staff in a global, decentralized nonprofit organization.
Interest in natural sciences and conservation.
Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience are appreciated.
