JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Join the Applied Research Laboratory Data Sciences Department within the Geospatial, Imaging, and Data Sciences Division! We are looking for Full-Time Engineers, Scientists, and Data Scientists. You will aid our research efforts in this unique problem area that has applications in defense, law enforcement, security, disaster relief, human geography, disaster preparedness, and first response. We are a learning-centric organization that cultivates an environment where creative ideas and people thrive for the betterment of our national security mission.
You will:
Lead programs and teams, and be part of a highly collaborative leadership team
Lead collaborations with geospatial data analysts to understand and automate workflows and improve human processes to advance the discovery and modeling of associations, trends, patterns and system dynamics
Lead the creation of processes and algorithms to transform traditional GEOINT and open source data into spatio-temporal information describing places, events, and activities
Combine full spectrum source data with modeling capabilities that associate real world objects to known signatures and doctrines
Develop the ability to discover and capture information from geospatial data to better represent the most advanced understanding of world events, systems, and discrete entities!
Apply the scientific method across multiple disciplines to advance Data and Geospatial Sciences and develop data analytics through systematic experimentation
Lead experiment-driven applied research and development.
Lead scientific research projects and develop geospatial algorithms while collaborating among diverse domains to further scientific understanding and analytic tools
Grow career and capabilities, plan and conduct applied research, provide technical guidance and oversight, lead large research efforts, report results, foster trusted relationships with sponsors, and advise on new and evolving technology and techniques
Engage in research efforts ranging from proof-of-concept through integrated production systems
This position can be filled as a level 4 or level 5 depending on the successful candidate’s education and experience. Minimally requires a Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Science discipline plus 15 years’ related experience for a level 4. Additional education and or experience required for higher level positions.

Significant experience as a Principal Investigator on DoD/IC research programs, and demonstrated leadership capabilities , preferably on multiple programs

Authoring numerous whitepapers and coordinating multiple whitepaper contributions
Relevant experience in a field directly applicable or highly related to Geospatial Sciences, Engineering, or Computer Sciences
Relevant experience in a field directly applicable or highly related to Data Sciences, Engineering, Computer Sciences, or Geospatial Sciences
Ability to design experiments, perform analysis, and design or apply meaningful metrics to measure results, and teach/mentor others how to do so
Adapt and learn new skills, to execute specific research projects, and to meet task deadlines and goals
Key technical leadership role on a program, understands all technical aspects of the program, creates tasking for other team members, and coordinates technical development activities
Very active and committed to mentorship/training other team members, continuity planning, Division resource allocation and task planning, Division financial program execution
Experience with computer programming in one or more of the following: Python, R, Java, C++, or Matlab
Preferred:
Experience working within DoD/IC Analysis or Operational environments is highly regarded.
Experience with Git, GUI development, open source scientific computation, computer vision, modeling, or machine learning tools is highly regarded.
