The department of Population and Public Health Sciences is in search of a full-time Programmer Analyst II. We seek a dependable, flexible, and detail-oriented individual to join a research team at the University of Southern California to work on a new research study called Identifying modifiable factors that reduce the burden of late stage melanoma in Hispanics. The study is examining the needs of Hispanic melanoma survivors and their experience with diagnosis and treatment of their melanoma.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational capabilities and problem-solving skills, and will demonstrate the ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Follow design specifications to code, test, debug, install, document, and maintain software applications.
Prepares code documentation in support of program development.
Designs methods for capturing, and analyzes data from, geospatial data sources.
Performs work of moderate complexity and handles most activities under general supervision of more experienced programming staff.
Preferred skills:
1+ years geospatial database design and analysis
Experience working with analysts across a broad range of data types.
Experience with ArcGIS and spatial analysis in R is highly preferred
Experience with an RDBMS (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)
Experience with version control fundamentals (GIT, HG, SVN, etc.)
Good taste with respect to code quality
Passionate about performance, reliability, and scalability
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree, Combined work experience and education as equivalent Minimum Experience: 1-year, Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience Minimum Field of Expertise: Sound knowledge of programming and documentation procedures, programming methods, program flow charts and operator instructions. Knowledge of one or more appropriate computer languages.
The hourly rate range for this position is $41.69 – $52.43.
