Job Description

Texas A&M AgriLife Research at Corpus Christi is seeking a highly motivated scientist specializing in Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to work with the Digital Agriculture team. This position complements the strengths of Texas A&M AgriLife Research Center at Corpus Christi in Digital Agriculture. The incumbent is expected to work with a team of transdisciplinary scientists to develop near to real time data driven decision support systems to evaluate experimental treatments and develop crop management plan

General duties and Responsibilities:

One of the goals of the Digital Agriculture Program at Texas A&M AgriLife Research Center at Corpus Christi is to develop and apply emerging technologies, including big data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), remote data transfer, and cloud computing to help solve complex agricultural problems. Below are some of the key responsibilities:

The candidate will work on the synthesis, integration, and analysis of large, diverse datasets obtained from Unmanned Aerial System (UAS), Satellite imagery, ground sensors, and field data

Develop Digital Twins of crop environments and crop growth

Develop models and AI algorithms for crop growth forecasting, prescriptive mapping, and yield predictions

Transfer the developed algorithms to cloud-based platform to develop digital portals

Publish peer-reviewed papers and support grant writing

The candidate will have the opportunity to work with scientists from crop physiology, agronomy, Extension, plant breeding, mechanical engineering, and computer science, and is expected to work in a team and independently as needed.

Qualifications

PhD in computer science, data science, geospatial science, Agronomy, Crop Science, Statistics, or related discipline

Familiarity with remotely sensed geospatial data products (UAS and satellite imagery)

Experience in building data models using Python or other statistical and/or mathematical programming packages,

Proficiency in developing machine learning algorithms to analyze spatial-temporal data for predictive modeling

Strong written and oral communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to publish in highquality peerreviewed journals.

Salary: $55,000-65,000 (depending on the candidates experience)
