GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Performs highly-advanced (senior-level) crime analyst and database analysis and development work for the Office of the Attorney Generals Human Trafficking and Transnational Organized Crime Section. Work involves coordinating complex data analysis, report writing and identification of patterns of criminal activity. Assists in investigations, preparation and criminal trials conducted by the Division.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
Analyzes human trafficking data using standard statistical tools, methods and techniques, compiles and queries data
Identifies data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies, and redundancies by analyzing the content, structure, and relationships within data
Interprets results to identify significant differences in data
Assists in preparing for trial and reviewing records that are utilized for investigation purposes and assisting in preparing exhibits.
May develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
Compiles data; conducts analysis; and prepares correspondence and reports on crime developments, criminal activity, or other information pertaining to identified subjects
Coordinates the exchange of intelligence information and serves as a liaison with appropriate public safety divisions and local, state, federal and international jurisdictions for the prevention and suppression of crime
Analyzes and reviews intelligence information on criminal activities and report information to appropriate individuals or groups
Coordinates and reviews assessments of criminal activity, threats, and vulnerabilities
Coordinates the exchange of intelligence information and serves as a liaison with appropriate public safety divisions and local, state, federal and international jurisdictions for the prevention and suppression of crime.
Attends meetings, trainings, and workshops related to criminal activities, intelligence gathering, or other topics to assist law enforcement personnel in evaluating and sharing related pertinent information. Assists in trainings conducted by the division.
Assists in trial preparation and may be called as a fact/expert witness.
Performs related work as assigned

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; experience in the following (or closely related) fields may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis: Data Analysis, Research Compilation and/or Criminal Analysis work
Experience: Five years of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: Data Analysis, Research Compilation and/or Reporting Work as well as Criminal Analyst work
Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
Skill in effective oral and written communication
Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making
Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback
Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment
Ability to provide excellent customer service
Ability to work in person at assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG workspace within OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers (e.g., collaborating, training, mentoring) for the entirety of every work week (unless on approved leave)
Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel
Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA
Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 20%
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Education: Masters Degree with major coursework in criminal justice, forensic science, statistics, data analysis, or an applicable hard science
Experience: Providing court room testimony; conducting historical research, reviewing and analyzing records
Knowledge: Texas Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, Rules of Evidence
Skills: Identifying measures or indicators of program performance and in operating computers and applicable software. Proficient in law enforcement databases.
Abilities: To provide clear and concise written intelligence reports; to use charts, graphs, documentary and statistical analysis, and geospatial mapping to provide information on crime series, patterns, and trends; to analyze suspect and victim profiles; to conduct tactical crime analyses.
Other Language: Ability to proficiently read, write, and speak Spanish
