BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:The P RT GEOSPATIAL OPERATIONS Department of the P GEOSPATIAL AND ASSET DATA OPS Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Bargaining Unit vacancy available. This position may be filled on Oahu, Maui, or Hawaii Island. (Role: NON-EXEMPT)
JOB FUNCTION:Performs system updates and drawings in connection with proposed and as-built changes in the system facilities of Hawaiian Electric across three counties using Geospatial Information System (GIS) and Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) systems. Maintains geospatial and other electric system records, as assigned. Prepares representations of utility data and ensures it is accurately entered into the GIS database.
FUNDAMENTAL RESPONSIBLITIES:Fundamental Responsibilities:

Creates, updates, and maintains system facility maps and other drawings such as switching diagrams, single-line diagrams, Load Dispatch boards, and other related maps/records across all service territories related to Geospatial Operations core eGIS data, as assigned.
Establishes and enforces the required standards for connectivity, CIS data, GIS/SAP linking, device/structure numbering, etc. across all service territories.
Ensures accuracy of the GIS data model (connectivity, ownership, and attribute data) that feeds multiple programs (OMS, SAP, etc.) used for system maintenance, planning, operation, and analysis across all service territories.
Coordinates with the Asset Data Operations team to generate integrated SAP data such as functional locations, nodes, etc. as it relates to proposed installations and identify issues associated with existing SAP/CIS data.
Coordinates geospatial data and updates asset attributes, locations, and customer information with internal departments and divisions to further the goals of the Company through efficient, consistent, and reliable information.
Acts as the subject matter expert for all GIS inquiries, requests, and changes to ensure system integrity.
Regularly applies and maintains quality assurance and quality control audits on eGIS core data through the operation of GIS, CADD, and other related programs for job specific data.
Troubleshoots issues facing data collection or production related to eGIS data. Verifies accuracy of Geospatial Operations data on drawings, identifies inaccuracies, and reports discrepancies to the appropriate individual.
Assists and performs in the testing of new applications or existing tools before enhancements or fixes are incorporated into Geospatial Operations and/or Asset Data Operations production systems.
Responsible for performing field checks of equipment installations and changes to validate operating maps and drawings on an independent or assisted basis.
Coordinates with Designers and Engineers in the preparation of detailed drawings for shop fabrication or field installations utilizing drawings, sketches, manufacturers literature, and written or verbal instructions. Creates special ad-hoc maps, graphs, and charts.
Applies underground and overhead Company standards to create, prepare, and revise detailed drawings and instructions for field installations of underground and overhead lines, vaults, switching equipment and other construction as required.
Categorizes drawings and maps by geographic areas and/or electrical grid locations. Scans files into electronic file system and indexes with keywords/substations/numbers, etc.

Other Responsibilities:

Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.
Operates Company vehicle, as required.
Performs similar and incidental duties as required.

FUNDAMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must pass the Edison Electric Institute Technician Occupations Selection System (TECH).

Note: Employees who have taken and passed the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) do not need to take the TECH.

Ability to identify and distinguish the difference between colors, including shades, hues, and tints.
Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii drivers license. Must meet the standards for frequent or required driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy. These standards may be adjusted periodically to meet business and safety objectives.

Must have successfully completed a two-year GIS curriculum at the community college level or higher; or earned a GIS certificate; or have equivalent on-the-job training or equivalents.
Experience within an electrical utility is highly desirable.
Drafting experience is desirable.
