Department Overview

Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers. As a whole, Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&Es gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.

Position Summary

Provide GIS and database support for the implementation of risk management duties. Responds to queries and resolves technical issues. Leads and/or supports the preparation of annual regulatory reports. Supports leak survey aerial leak surveys with both planning and reporting. Help as needed with dashboard creation and maintenance across multiple lines of business.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $93,000

Bay Area Maximum: $139,000

Job Responsibilities

Develop and refresh GIS data for PG&Es external GIS web sites and public outreach programs
Assess and coordinate GIS software and hardware needs of the department, evaluate new GIS software and databases
Continually identify opportunities for improvement in the way work is done, share expertise and lessons learned
Create and update metadata and catalog GIS layers, including documenting work flow procedures for staff using GIS, both in the office and in the field.
Demonstrate by personal action a 100% commitment to employee and public safety.
Develop and perform data gathering, data integration and quality control procedures for geospatial data, interface with data source systems to resolve issues
Work collaboratively with other work groups and vendors, troubleshoot issues, produce technical communication
Gather, integrate, and convert data from various sources into ArcGIS databases
Support compliance and special aerial leak surveys and other leak survey support
Provide GIS support and data integration.
Provide integrity assurance input to the Integrity Management Program group.
Provide user support with GIS tools / functionality
Respond to requests for GIS queries or maps for special projects.
Support enterprise GIS data modeling and data capture initiatives as well as software functionality review.
Support the preparation of annual reports to FERC, (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission), SEC (Security and Exchange Commission), OPS (Office of Pipeline Safety) and CPUC (California Public Utilities Commission).
Accurately identify Safety Critical Elements.
Development of new Power BI dashboards supporting Gas Operations
Maintaining Power BI dashboards across several lines of business
Supporting other analytical data events for Leak Survey

Qualifications

Minimum:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
Experience with GIS-Geographic Information System, ArcGIS, 1 year
Experience with GIS-Geographic Information Systems, 3 years

Desired:
Experience in Power BI dashboard creation and maintenance
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
Utility industry experience
Experience in data modeling
Experience in gas transmission
Experience in gas distribution
Experience in pipeline industry, or related
Experience in risk management
Experience in Power BI dashboard creation and maintenance
