Job Description

Interested in protecting local utilities? The Public Utilities Department is seeking an energetic
GIS
Specialist to join the Engineering division. This position will support the use and leveraging of data collected from geospatial technologies to improve accuracy and response of the department.

Applicant must be experienced using ESRI ArcGIS 10.8.x and comprehend water and sewer system pathways. Using various ESRI products, ArcGIS 10.8.x, ArcGIS Pro and GPS to digitize, modify, and attribute water and sewer system assets using a variety of data sources.

Duties & Responsibilities

Digitize and attribute water and sewer assets.
Assist field personnel in the usage of field mapping and data collection
Work with data collected in the field to QA/QC utility assets
Review and interpret utility as-built drawings for accuracy and completeness
Quality control spatial locations and facilities attributes adhering to defined requirements.
Prepare exhibits and reports for internal and external projects
Manage and update a geodatabase of GPS located utility assets

Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelors degree in geographic information systems or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE

REQUIREMENT:
In addition to satisfying the vocational/educational standard, this class requires a minimum of four years of related, full-time equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

ArcGIS 10.6.x or higher and/or ArcGIS Pro experience preferred.
Ability to review and compare various information sources.
Knowledge of water and sewer infrastructure is preferred.
Experience with GPS technology and field data collection (Field Maps/Collector and Utility Locating Equipment) is helpful.
Capable with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Good communication (verbal and written) and listening skills.
Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
Self-motivation, adaptability, and ability to work in both an individual and group environment to meet deadlines.
