ERM is seeking a mid-level GIS Specialist to join our Irvine, CA office. The mid-level Specialist will join an existing team of professionals to leverage environmental data management and geospatial technologies in support of our core services. These include impact assessment, environmental planning and permitting, energy infrastructure studies, health and safety, and site investigation and remediation related services.

We are seeking a self-starting, well-organized individual with problem-solving skills who can adapt to a fluid work environment. The applicant should have experience with developing GIS applications for web and mobile. ERM is looking for an individual who also has professional experience automating GIS workflows to help make tasks more efficient and assist in maintaining the quality of spatial data. The GIS Specialist will be part of a team of scientists and GIS specialists on several small and large projects. It is critical that the applicant can adapt to last-minute changes in workflow and think of out-of-the-box concepts for development, design, and maintenance of GIS data and spatial analysis.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure GIS and data deliverables meet or exceed our clients needs.
Work with geoprocessing scripts and tools using python or model-builder.
Publish and maintain ArcGIS web-based map services and applications
Maintain geodatabase systems and geoprocessing tools.
Organize and track project data, analysis, and mapping following company protocols and industry best practices.
Prioritize, organize, perform, and collaborate with other GIS Team members on numerous work assignments in a fast-paced, client-oriented environment.
Utilize GIS database domains and schemas and adhere to client GIS data schemas.
Expand digital capabilities by exploring and integrating new technologies and software, plus help develop new strategies to improve existing methods, tools, and workflows.
Implement and create new geoprocessing tools and workflows.
Check data outputs, fix errors, rerun operations, until the data outputs are correct and align with schemas.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors degree in geography, GIS, natural sciences, or comparable field.
At least 3 years of professional GIS experience, preferably in an environmental field.
Experience designing and developing ArcGIS Online web maps and customized web apps.
Experience building, deploying, and supporting Esri mobile applications such as Survey123 and Field Maps.
Experience with relational databases and database management, and/or managing GIS data within SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL database environments.
Strong oral and written communication skills, keen orientation to detail, and an eye for professional presentation and aesthetics in project deliverables (maps, charts, graphs, tables, and other visualizations).
Previous experience working effectively with others in a team environment to deliver quality projects on time and within budgets.
Self-motivated, quick learning, curious, resourceful, flexible individual with a common-sense approach to conducting business and workload management.
Ability to use environmental data and developing applications for visualization, analysis, and presentation of environmental data.
Ability to quickly learn new technologies, work independently, and quickly turnaround maps, application prototypes or other deliverables.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

Advanced degrees or certifications in GIS and/or database design.
Ability to develop GIS applications or create workflows integrating at least two of the following Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, C# (ArcObjects), Arcade, SQL, R, or related programming languages.
Experience in AGOL web application design/development.
Knowledge of environmental databases, including earthsofts EQuIS data management system.
Advanced experience with data management including organizing and maintaining complex projects containing geospatial and tabular data, mxds, APRXs, custom tools and toolboxes, analysis output, maps, and SQL enterprise geodatabases.
Experience using ArcGIS Pro in a production setting, creating Python geoprocessing tools for ArcPro, and designing queries in Arcade.

For the GIS Specialist (Associate Level) position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $63,359 to $68,761. An employees pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where employees fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above. This job is also eligible for bonus pay.
