Job Summary

Hiring Range: $62,358.40 – $82,180.80/Year D.O.Q. Port Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA) is seeking a dynamic professional to join our team! The PCCA Planning Department is seeking an experienced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) practitioner to support expansion and maintenance of the organizations enterprise GIS.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Acquires and analyzes geospatial data in support of a wide array of planning, environmental operations, port operations, and emergency response functions, including making recommendations on use of GIS in creative capacities and providing situational awareness
Collects field data various tools and instruments (e.g. mobile device applications, land surveying equipment, GNSS Antenna/Receiver, UAS)
Creates and maintains enterprise GIS layers addressing various data needs across multiple departments
Produces polished and professional cartographic products for various applications, with QA/QC reviews in advance of publication
Facilitates and supports the use of GIS products by PCCA staff
Assists with the preparation and periodic updates of the PCCAs Strategic Plan and various master plans
Attends and participates in meetings;
Utilizes and maintains appropriate project management tools and tracking and proactively communicates the status of objectives and initiatives to collaborators and internal clients
Adheres to PCCA policy; promotes PCCA environmental precepts, a safe work environment and the SEAPORT values
Maintains high-level of professionalism and integrity; promotes good employee relations
Drives vehicle as necessary to complete assigned tasks and works required hours to fulfill position objectives
CPR certified or ability to become CPR certified within the first year of employment
Tier 2 status designation

CANDIDATE PROFILE
The preferred candidate for this position should be an energetic and creative self-starter who is exceptionally well-organized and detail-oriented. This successful candidate must be highly disciplined with exemplary professional integrity and a solution-oriented, can-do attitude. They must possess the following:

EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS

Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Geomatics, Geographic Information Science, Geospatial Engineering, or related field or training and experience equivalent
Graduate degree in relevant field preferred
Must have experience with ArcGIS or ArcGIS Pro and associated software tools, including but not limited to ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, QGIS
Good driving record with valid drivers license
Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employment

EXPERIENCE & JOB KNOWLEDGE

4 years progressively responsible experience in duties outlined above or equivalent
Experience working with diverse teams, acquiring data from myriad sources, utilizing geospatial software tools to address complex, technical, and interdisciplinary challenges
Experience producing exhibits and/or renderings for use in plans, permit applications, and/or other applied illustrative purposes
Experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Illustrator, and/or other graphics programs
Experience with scoping, designing, and administering file and enterprise geodatabases.
Experience with ArcGIS Portal/ online web app builder and dashboards
Experience with Python programming

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Ability to integrate information from multiple sources to develop creative solutions to complex technical challenges
Positive, can-do attitude; ability to uphold deadlines, multi-task, and work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team
Ability to work independently within a structured environment and to fit well within an energetic and dedicated team
Proficiency in MS Office, including Word and Excel, Outlook and other related applications
Ability to understand, interpret, and apply all PCCA policies and adhere to the SEAPORT values and state/federal laws.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Ability to perform essential job functions, including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, typing and occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
Ability to work in a general office environment, with some exposure to the elements when visiting worksites
Ability to operate light-weight highway vehicles and standard office equipment and to work the requisite hours to fulfill position objectives, including evenings and/or weekends, as needed
