Cardno GS, Inc. now Stantec GS, Inc. is seeking a GIS Technician in our San Diego, CA office

Job Description:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

> Create, organize, and modify geospatial data (review existing data, update attribute tables, load data into feature classes)

> Design/create effective maps using Esri ArcGIS software, report figures, presentation graphics, etc that communicate a message to the client

> Organize files into a data library/catalog. Documents may need to be converted/digitized/scanned into electronic format.

> Develop and incorporate data automation tasks utilizing Python scripting language and SQL.
> Set up GPS devices for field deployment and assist with collecting data in the field
> Perform geospatial analyses such as land use impacts or suitability impacts
> Maintain metadata documents

> Georeference and digitize data from CAD files, PDFs, images, and/or historical imagery files.

Qualifications:

> Bachelors degree in GIS, geography, environmental science, engineering, or similar degree from an accredited college or university

> 2+ years of experience working with Esri ArcGIS Desktop products version 10.x or higher, or ArcPro 2.x or higher

> Demonstrate knowledge of core concepts in GIS and cartography
> Ability to analyze and interpret data from a variety of sources (.gdb, .shp, .kmz, .dwg, etc)

> Ability to convert raw geospatial data into a set data model.

> Strong skills in data management, particularly with geodatabases

> Basic SQL and Python skills
> Experience with Microsoft Office 2016 or later
> Capable of working independently or in a team environment

> Strong attention to detail and time management skills

> Ability to research and problem-solve technical issues

> Excellent personable, communication, and customer service skills

> Provide insight on emerging technologies and efficiencies

Desired Qualifications:

> GIS certificate or other record of continued GIS training

> Experience using AutoCAD, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online (StoryMaps, Web App Builder, ArcGIS Collector/Field Maps)
> Experience using GIS to support NEPA or similar regulatory documentation
> Working knowledge of SDSFIE and FDGC metadata requirements
> Graphic design skills, such as experience with Adobe Suite (Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc)
> Experience collecting GPS data using Trimble, Collector for ArcGIS, and/or Survey123 software

> Knowledge of photogrammetry and remote sensing a plus

> Interest in developing lightweight applications using open source and industry standard applications to assist with internal workflows.

> Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, if needed
