The Geospatial Science and Technology (GST) program in the Research Computing Division (RCD) of RTI International has an immediate opening for an experienced and versatile Geospatial Web Developer to support a variety of projects and research activities. The work will the development of end user applications and system components for interaction, exploration, and fusion with other non-spatial data. The position entails working across all units of RTI and may involve research in multiple domains including public health, surveys, environment, climate, education, and equity and justice. Candidates should have a broad set of experience and skills with a focus on applied geospatial analytics and programming of desktop/web/mobile/cloud software. Qualified candidates must have prior experience that demonstrates the ability to work simultaneously on multiple teams towards development of geospatial application or system components.
Responsibilities
Implement geospatial analyses, applications, and systems
Contribute to geospatial activities working on cross-Institute teams
Interface directly with management, clients, and subcontractors
Support multiple efforts with minimal supervision
Develop modular code designed for reuse and/or productization
Learn new technologies.
Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate to various interested parties at different levels of leadership and technical expertise
Demonstrate excellent writing skills and verbal communication
Adhere to quality processes and standards required by the division
Qualifications
Required
At least a BA/BS and 3 years experience or a MA/MS and 1 years experience
Experience with a variety of geospatial software including ESRIs, Leaflet, and open-source solutions
Experience with Python scripting
Experience with web platforms/frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue
Prior experience developing for one or more environments including desktop, web, mobile, and cloud
Ability to query and build applications leveraging relational, key value, and/or graph databases
To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.
Preferred
ESRI platform expertise (configuration and development) for desktop, server and mobile
Experience with cross-platform (Windows/Mac/Linux/Android) and cross-browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, mobile) development
Experience with grid and vector-based geospatial analyses
Experience working in Jupyter notebooks
Practice with in Agile SDLCs, CI/CD, DevOps
Practice with source code management in a team setting using git
Experience with most of the following: Python, .NET Core, Java, Julia, R,
Experience using and developing web services
