Description

Performs duties of a geospatial analyst while in the office, including processing and analyzing remote sensing data. Travels to projects as a drone pilot and collects remote sensing and survey data. Provides support in survey, cartography, data manipulation, geographic information analysis and database management for all phases of wind, solar, transmission and energy storage projects. Office work can be performed remotely, while field work requires remaining at project sites until collection is completed (typically 1-3 weeks).
Essential Funcstion:

Collect lidar and photogrammetric data utilizing drones.

Collect additional field data, including surveyed ground points.

Process and analyze photogrammetric and lidar data.

Gather, analyze and integrate spatial data from internal teams.

Utilize geographic data from a variety of sources including census, field observation, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, ALTA surveys, engineering documents, etc.

Support project teams and surveying by converting and creating files, including for use in machine control.

Prepare and manage metadata.

Support projects by presenting requested information and answering questions.

Perform surface comparison and quantity calculations.

Support survey staff by providing guidance and support files.

Drives between site locations during daytime and nighttime hours and in varying weather conditions in order to complete site surveys.

Data collection requires some physical work in adverse weather, including extensive walking over uneven terrain.

Present, support, and lead-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.

Skills:

GIS/CAD software (ArcGIS, Global Mapper, AutoCAD)
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
DJI flight planning software
Remotely-sensed data processing and analytics
Field experience, including drone-based data collection
Detail-oriented
Ability to work & learn independently
Ability to work professionally with clients, vendors, employees, managers and supervisors
Knowledge of survey, including experience using Trimble GPS survey equipment, is preferred
Experience using lidar scanners is preferred
Experience working with methods used to interchange CAD data with GIS data

Qualifications:

Bachelor degree or equivalent (equivalent is 6 years) experience.
Must have one to three years of relevant experience.
Must have a valid current driver license, eligible for corporate vehicle insurance coverage.
Willingness to learn, work within standardized processes/procedures and continued drive for process improvements.
Position is generally 21 days site based (includes days off) and 4 days offsite (location of choice); travel home program is established at the beginning of a project and is in effect for the duration of the project. Company provided stipend funds travel expenses

Performs some sedentary office duties in the construction site office, but the role also involves a significant amount of time working outside on the active construction site performing construction support activities.

Anticipated base salary range: $50,000 – $60,000
Location: USA, Nationwide
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
