Responsibilities
:

A scientist applying for this position must understand, be conversant and have demonstrated experience with the biological, ecological and limnological concepts related to water quality and water resources and have a firm understanding of wetland ecology and regulatory issues. An emphasis will be placed on candidates with wetland delineation experience in Minnesota, with an added emphasis to those candidates already certified for wetland delineations. Ideally, this candidate will also have experience in water quality science, with an ability to contribute to projects focused on watershed planning, watershed modeling, lake modeling, and stream channel assessments.

The preferred candidate needs to illustrate the ability to work independently, apply reasoning skills and logic to reach technical conclusions, and have an aptitude and desire to tackle new and challenging issues. The ability to conduct field work associated with wetland delineations, biological assessments, and independently develop and prepare technical reports with a moderate amount of guidance is a necessity. Ability to contribute to project management, pursue grant opportunities, and familiarity with geospatial analysis techniques is also desired. Experience working on projects or studies related to Clean Water Act, ecology, wildlife habitat, water quality issues, and NEPA related regulatory issues is a plus. Occasional travel necessary.

Qualifications :

Bachelors degree in an appropriate scientific discipline (water resources, limnology, aquatic or terrestrial biology, ecology, limnology, natural resources management, water resource science, soils, or zoology).

Minimum five years of demonstrated professional experience addressing environmental issues associated with water quality and wetlands.

Proficient with Microsoft office (word & excel), computer models, data bases, and GIS. Intimate knowledge of the use of GIS in addressing scientific issues is also necessary.

Valid Drivers License and in good standing.
