Overview:
The mission of IT Research & Innovation department is to collaborate and innovate on impactful health IT solutions, leveraging data, analytics, technology, and experience design. IT R&I has a diverse project portfolio in health informatics ranging from building interoperable multisite clinical research data infrastructure, streaming data ingestion and archival, text mining, predictive analytics, geospatial analysis, custom application development, to user engagement design and research. These projects are highly collaborative involving partners in Physician Informatics, Hospital IS, clinicians, researchers, administrators, and other roles, both internally and externally.
The IT R&Is Data Collaboration (DC) team manages end-to-end data solutions, from electronic health record data extraction, research data capture, to sharing data with external collaborators. The DC team develops or supports various data platforms or solutions, including a database on a High-Performance Computing environment for the ingestion and archival of streaming bedside monitor data and makes these high-resolution data available for research, QI, and clinical care. The team is responsible for health information extraction, de-identification, and multisite clinical research support.
This position will primarily be working with the Data Collaboration team and be responsible for formulating and defining data & business requirements, project management and documentation, and business process analysis & improvement. This position will analyze needs, interests and requirements from internal stakeholders, develop templates and processes that clearly define the requirement gathering process, conduct market and literature research on availability of existing or emerging products, services and development, provide any additional information needed to leaderships to make informed decision on project vetting and project prioritization. Responsibilities:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Requirement Analysis & Documentation
Facilitate meetings to detail out current and future state business processes, functional and non-functional requirements, stakeholder needs assessments, and cost/benefit analysis in order to align data & digital health solutions with business strategies.
Gather and document business requirements, business cases, new project requests to align business objectives through the strategic application of people, processes, and technology.
Maintain documentation to reflect current business practices.
Develop requirements documentation in accordance with industry standard and NCH IS specific methodologies.
Assist in cost estimates and proposal documentation for funding requests (capital or operating, internal or external).
Participate in shadowing process to learn and document clinical/operational processes relevant to research projects.
Maintain compliance policy and guidelines documents pertaining to research data.
Data Management Assistance
Keep the knowledge on the functionalities of existing electronic medical record, electronic data capture systems, data reporting tools updated by tracking updates such as new EPIC or REDCap modules.
Monitor changes to federal research regulations, clinical data models eg. OMOP, clinical data standards for data exchange, update corresponding documents as needed.
Track industry activities and academic advancements on data management that may impact our direction and our efforts in this area. Identify key influencers and potential vendors/collaborators/service providers.
Generate periodic reports on new developments in data management across the healthcare industry.
Assist DC and other teams to identify synergistic areas across multiple teams both internally and externally.
Conduct analysis on strengths, opportunities, obstacles, and risks of the identified areas.
Monitor relevant internal and external funding opportunities and disseminate information to the team members.
Project Coordination
Help coordinate with IRB, OTC, legal, leadership, and others on collaborative research projects with external institutions/companies.
Help document project plan, coordinate project efforts, and update project status.
Assist in developing project test plan, participate in testing, assist with end user testing.
Ensure test plans and scripts are in alignment with the business requirements and project scope.
Help prepare presentation for internal and external audiences in forms of written report, oral presentation, posters, or manuscripts.
Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Bachelors degree in business/data/healthcare with 2+ years of working experience in relevant area.
Experience in requirements analysis, project management, and business process analysis is required.
Proven track record in successful project completion (testable requirements, business goals clearly defined and met).
Previous working experience in a healthcare or research environment is desirable.
Knowledge of data management and clinical research regulations is a plus.
Ability to clarify and summarize complex issues; Sharp, analytical and possess detail-oriented skills.
Strong desire to learn and is highly collaborative.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) to interact and work effectively with all levels of the organization, across different departments, and external contacts.
