Illinois Elevation Overview

Illinois is predominantly flat glaciated prairie, with the highest terrain in the northwest corner near Wisconsin. Charles Mound at 1,235 ft is the modest high point. The Mississippi River at 279 ft marks the lowest elevation. The Shawnee Hills in the south provide the most varied terrain in the state.

How to Use the Illinois Elevation Map
