Visualizing the countries of the world as animals

A Japanese visual designer, Kentaro Nagai created these map creatures in 2007 as part of art project focusing on collaboration and peace. Nagai rearranges landmasses and islands into one of the twelve creatures (Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Boar.) The choice of animals is based on the Japanese signs of the zodiac. map artmap art
